FAQs
We will announce the theme on the day of the event, Sept 8th, thirty minutes prior to its start.
- 35% Playability: completeness, stability, functionality, optimization
- 20% User Experience: game mechanics, fun factor
- 20% Creativity: originality, uniqueness
- 15% Implementation: theme and/or Kongpanions are incorporated into the game
- 10% Presentation: design, sfx, music, artistic appeal
You are not required to include Kongpanions in your game. However, we LOVE to see Kongpanions in games, and they will definitely be a plus when we are judging submissions.
There will be a diverse panel of judges comprised of Kongregate employees, each from different departments within the company.
A team can have 1 to 5 members.
Yes. For this event, all members of the team must reside in the United States of America. However, we hope to make future events more accessible internationally.
This event is aimed at developers with at least some prior experience.
All submissions must incorporate the KongJam theme, use the Unity game engine, and primarily be in English. Additionally, the game must meet a certain standard of playability and the game’s code must be shared and licensed under the Attribution-NonCommercial-Share Alike 4.0 International Creative Commons License.
KongJam has a 48 hour duration starting Sept 8th at 5pm and ending on Sept 10th at 5pm Pacific time.
All members of Kongregate’s official Discord server will have the opportunity to cast one vote during the voting period. You are allowed and encouraged to invite others to join the server and cast their vote!
The community will have one week, from Oct 6th until Oct 15th, to cast their vote.
Absolutely! In order to submit their vote, they must have a valid Discord account and be a member of Kongregate’s official server.
The winner of KongJam will not be part of the People’s Choice Award selection. We want to give the multiple developers the opportunity to win.
On Sept 9th, all teams are required to present a preview of their project to a member of Kongregate’s staff. Once all the groups have registered, we will announce the time at which these presentations must be made.
We plan to establish a process for developers who cannot participate in KongJam but would still like to publish their games on Kongregate. We hope to share more soon!
